Elijah is the Leader Elect, the face of the Resistance. With it comes chaos, a chaos he must embrace.

Elijah is kidnapped into a secluded society in Egypt containing the world’s most abundant source of Throngorian. Its history connects to Leon Abel, who has his sights on its Throngorian. Because of Elijah’s newfound notoriety, he is entrusted to set an alliance with Egypt to protect the Throngorian.

However, Leon Abel is not the only threat. OWA, an international peace organization with unprecedented global power, sets its will against him and the Resistance. But Elijah learns their influence stems from puppet masters manipulating every government in the war.

What Did I Just Walk Into?

Apparently, Elijah looked at trauma, war, kidnapping, global manipulation, ancient power struggles, and political chaos and said, “Sure, why not. Let’s make this my personality now.”

Nightfall throws us right back into The Resistance Series with Elijah stepping into his role as Leader Elect, which sounds very official until you realize it mostly means everyone wants something from him, several people want him dead, and the universe has absolutely no intention of letting this poor man sit down for five minutes.

This time, Elijah is pulled into a secluded society in Egypt, where the world’s largest source of Throngorian is sitting there like a giant shiny problem waiting to ruin everyone’s day. Leon Abel is still lurking around with his usual villain energy, because apparently some men cannot just get a hobby. But he is not the only threat. OWA, an international peace organization with way too much power and suspiciously clean public branding, steps into the picture and proves that “peace organization” can be a very generous label when puppet masters are pulling government strings behind the scenes.

Here’s What Slapped:

Elijah’s character arc continues to be the heart of this series. He is not just fighting battles outside himself, he is fighting the war inside his own head too. His childhood trauma, his nightmares, his fear of becoming the monster he once was, all of that gives the story emotional weight beyond the explosions, politics, and dystopian chaos.

The worldbuilding also keeps getting bigger without losing the original feel of the series. We started with young characters standing against impossible odds, and now we are dealing with international power plays, hidden societies, global manipulation, and the kind of war strategy that makes you want to start side-eyeing every organization with a nice logo.

And Throngorian? Still a problem. Still fascinating. Still the fictional metal equivalent of “this is why we can’t have nice things.”

What Could’ve Been Better:

At 531 pages, this is not a casual little stroll through dystopia. This is a full backpack, snacks, water bottle, emotionally prepared kind of read. There are a lot of moving pieces, and readers who have not followed the series from the beginning may feel like they wandered into a war room halfway through the briefing.

But honestly, this is Book 4. If you show up here without reading the first three, that is between you and your poor confused brain.

Nightfall is an intense, emotional, high-stakes finale that pushes Elijah to the edge and asks whether survival is worth it if it costs him the part of himself he has been fighting to protect. It is chaotic, ambitious, dramatic, and full of that “everything is on fire but we’re still moving” energy this series does so well.
