Robin’s Review

Lance Reedinger’s “Three Garden Village” is a slasher horror set in an upscale apartment complex where luxury meets grisly murder. Residents are dying in disturbing ways, and Zoe, along with her best friend Jen, both employees at the property, decide to investigate. With local cops brushing it off and management ignoring the problem, the two are left to uncover the truth—at their own peril.

The story has a lot going for it. The setting is a unique twist for a slasher—a high-end apartment complex filled with secrets and bloodshed. The contrast between the posh environment and the violent murders adds an unsettling vibe, and the descriptions of the killing will definitely appeal to horror fans. There’s also some dark humor woven in, which lightens the mood just enough without taking away from the tension.

That said, the pacing is a bit of a struggle. The middle of the book drags, and there are points where it feels like the story is spinning its wheels instead of moving forward.

And then there’s the ending. The final twist is shocking, but it’s also frustrating. It leaves a lot unresolved, and while some people might enjoy the open-ended style, I felt like I was missing key pieces of the story. The late introduction of an occult element had so much potential but wasn’t fleshed out enough to feel impactful. It’s a shame because it could’ve added a whole new layer of intrigue.

Overall, “Three Garden Village” has its strengths. The unique setting, slasher moments, and bits of humor make it entertaining for fans of the genre. But the uneven pacing and underexplored elements hold it back. If you’re into slasher stories with blood, suspense, and a little mystery, it’s worth checking out—just don’t expect everything to be neatly wrapped up by the end.
