Terror In Texas: Torn Apart Series
Terror in Texas begins with a biological attack on US soil. The ensuing chaos spreads anarchy and death. Adding to the confusion, the dead reanimate and attack the living. Unlikely heroes amid the chaos are a young mother, a disabled veteran, and a hopeless alcoholic. Who will escape San Antonio to see friends and loved ones again? Will the infection sweep over the entire nation?
Liz Jameson and her daughters separate while attempting to leave the city. While trying to find her daughters, Liz is rescued from certain death by Vietnam Veterans who then volunteer to aid her in her quest.
Struggling to remain sober, Matt Monroe and fellow soldiers, rescue an unusual group of survivors during their trek across the state.
Steve Benton, a double amputee, faces multiple dangers and not all are undead as he attempts to guide his small band of survivors. It’s a race for safety and not all will survive.
Robin’s Review
What Did I Just Walk Into?
A zombie outbreak, a biological attack, and a cast of survivors who were absolutely not consulted before the apocalypse kicked down their doors.
We’ve got:
✅ A separated mom fighting her way through undead chaos
✅ A double amputee who said “mobility issues who?”
✅ A recovering alcoholic with big “reluctant hero energy”
✅ A group of veterans who clearly weren’t planning to retire quietly
✅ Bikers, truckers, and bad timing across the great state of Texas
In other words? The Walking Dead meets Lone Star chaos and it is one hell of a ride.
Here’s What Slapped:
Starts with a bang. Not a metaphor. Things go to hell fast and never let up.
Real people. Messy, flawed, determined, occasionally unhinged people but the best kind for a zombie book.
Multiple POVs that somehow don’t make your head spin. Instead, you actually care about all these weirdos.
Smells like gunpowder, panic, and bad decisions.
The gore is just right, and by “just right” I mean, “get a mop.”
What Bit Back:
Yes, the editing could use some love. But if you’re here for perfection, you’re probably not reading about a biological apocalypse in Texas.
Perfect for Readers Who Love:
📖 Zompoc survival with grit and grime
📖 Road trips that include more blood than gas
📖 Found families forged in terror
📖 Military, moms, and misfits vs. the end of the world
📖 Indie horror that pulls no punches and eats your heart out (possibly literally)
Apocalypse books are my comfort reads, and this one threw me into the fire and made me like it. Gritty, chaotic, emotional, and a bit wild around the edges but just like a real zombie outbreak would be. I bought the next book halfway through. That’s all you really need to know.
