The Killer Shrimp vs Richard the Sasquatch

When toxic waste from the Perilous disposal plant is illegally dumped into the waters around Rabbit Island, no one expects the nightmarish consequences. A common shrimp species undergoes a terrifying mutation, growing to monstrous proportions and developing a taste for human flesh.

As local shrimpers begin to disappear, their boats are found abandoned and their bodies nowhere to be seen. Panic grips the fishing communities of Cameron and Calcasieu parishes The Coast Guard is baffled, and when their own men fall victim to the voracious predator, it becomes clear that conventional weapons are useless against this evolving threat. Into this terror stops an unlikely hero. Jack Landy, a reclusive veteran living off the grid in the deepest parts of the swamp. Summoned by his sister Sue after her boyfriend becomes one of the missing. Jack brings the only ally powerful enough to face the killer shrimp. His secret companion Richard an eight-foot Sasquatch with incredible strength and a gentile heart. As the death toll rises and the creature grows larger with each feeding. Jack and Richard must use their unique bonds and understanding of the natural world to stop the monster before it claims more lives. But can they defend a predator designed by humanity’s own carelessness? And can they keep Richard’s existence secret in a world that would never understand?

What Did I Just Walk Into?

Toxic waste, killer crustaceans, and a Bigfoot bromance? Yeah, you read that right. When shrimp mutate into oversized seafood serial killers, it’s up to a swamp-dwelling vet and his gentle Sasquatch buddy to save Louisiana from becoming an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Here’s What Slapped:

This book shouldn’t work, but somehow it completely does. It’s equal parts horror, heart, and hilariously high stakes. The shrimping details were surprisingly fascinating — I now know way more about boats and bycatch than I ever thought possible. The pacing? Perfectly baited. The action scenes? Straight-up cinematic. And Richard the Sasquatch? Protect him at all costs. I want him to have his own spin-off cooking show called “Swamp to Table.”

What Could’ve Been Better:

Honestly, maybe a few more pages of Richard’s backstory, because I’d read a whole prequel about him sipping moonshine and philosophizing about humanity’s environmental sins.

Perfect for Readers Who Love:

• B-movie creature features that actually have a plot

• Mutant monsters with a message

• Swamp horror meets found-family feels

• Tremors, Lake Placid, and cryptid chaos
