Pina Coladas and Rats: The Ultimate Collection
The entire rat horror series all in one infested collection. All four books and two lost stories are included in this tasty 80s creature horror collection! It’s 1985 and a group of survivors find themselves in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. What’s the catch? The island has a dirty little secret – killer rats are on the loose. Unlike regular rodents, these bloodthirsty creatures are attacking residents and leaving a trail of destruction.
Now these survivors must unite and find a way to escape Puerto Rico before they are devoured by the hungry rats looking for their next victim. At the same time, a secret death cult is attempting to gain power on the island. The origin of the killer rats might prove even darker than the rodents themselves.
Crawl into this adventure where the survivors will have to survive infested beach hotels, airports, the beaches of the island, and a mansion as they try to survive. Be warned, these rats are not afraid to show how hungry they are.
Robin’s Review
Triggers: Gore, creature attacks, body horror moments, religious cult elements, violence, survival horror, swarming/infestation themes, animal-related horror, paranoia, “no one is safe” energy.
What Did I Just Walk Into?
It’s 1985. You think you’re landing in Puerto Rico for sunshine, beaches, and vacation vibes. Surprise. The island has killer rats with a taste for chaos, and there’s also a secret death cult because apparently the universe decided one problem wasn’t enough. Now you’ve got survivors sprinting through hotels, airports, beaches, and mansions trying not to become an all-you-can-eat buffet with a side of pina colada.
Here’s What Slapped:
This is the whole series in one giant, glorious, rabid brick of a book. Four full books plus two “lost” stories, which is basically Mr. Angel Ramon showing up like, “You thought you were done? That’s cute.”
The pacing grabs you fast and keeps you moving. The vibe is pure 80s creature feature, the kind you’d watch with the lights off and snacks you refuse to share.
The setting is a win. Tropical beauty plus infestation horror is a nasty combo, and the contrast makes the dread hit harder.
The rats are not background noise. These things are mean, hungry, and committed to violence like it’s a lifestyle choice.
The extra tales are a real bonus, not filler. If you already loved the series, the two “lost” stories feel like dessert after the main course.
What Could’ve Been Better:
Let’s be honest, 925 pages is not “a quick bite.” This is a full meal, leftovers, and a to-go plate. If you’re new to the series, pace yourself.
If you have a strong fear of rodents, this may not be the vibe for bedtime reading unless you enjoy listening for tiny footsteps afterward.
Perfect for Readers Who Love:
80s-style creature horror with big energy
Survival horror with an ensemble cast
Infestation nightmares and escalating chaos
Horror with cult threads woven in
Collections that give you maximum story for your money
Books that make you side-eye every dark corner and suspicious rustle
Sum up: This collection is disgusting in the best way, a massive, addictive rat-fueled ride that’s equal parts creature feature fun and survival horror dread. I love this series, I love having the whole infestation in one place, and the two new stories make it feel like a reward for fans. Highly recommend, and yes, you’ll probably start judging any real-life rat activity a little harder afterward.
P.S. Mr. Ramon never ceases to amaze me. He’s an outstanding author who consistently delivers well-written, wildly enjoyable books, and this massive collection is proof he knows exactly how to turn chaos into a good time.
