Reading the books back-to-back really highlights how immersive this series is. The pacing feels relentless in the best possible way, and the world never lets the reader settle into comfort.

Katie continues to be an absolute force of a protagonist. She has grown into a hardened survivor with real emotional depth and serious fighting skills, but she never loses that core instinct to protect others. That balance makes her feel human instead of invincible. Her development across these two books is one of the strongest elements of the series.

The blend of post-apocalyptic survival and supernatural horror works extremely well. Demons, zombies, and human desperation collide in ways that keep the stakes high and unpredictable.
